For #wipwednesday here is

a one page NPC generator 🙇

I've been using this system and shaping it for about 6 months. It works well, but there can be more. I also run it with a chart of names based on race and some regional tables random occupation and factions.

A one page NPC generator with charts for a character's race, height, clothing, a distinguishing feature, their voice, random loot, motivation, NPC role

I figured it out. I just need to get it out of my head and onto paper ✨stay tuned✨

Adventure Writers, Game Masters, etc: What’s your procedure/process of naming things? Or more specifically, how did you name your setting?

Just sat in on my first library board of trustees meeting. They scheduled me as a visitor to see if I’m interested in joining. If the right people make it to the meeting next month, sounds like I’ll get appointed 😁

I think what you’re picking up on is that Cairn 2e’s backgrounds are just 20 example NPCs that double as pre-generated player character options (with some knobs you can dial)

Other games have more general character archetypes or playbooks, where C2e presents almost fully fleshed out individuals

I’d be surprised if the name hasn’t already been used, but “Tunnel Pigs” has a great ring to it. Lol

I’m definitely a “describe my character’s action in third person” type of player, so LARPing isn’t a skill that I’ve developed, but I may have to check it out sometime

I’ve been curious who has been renting the hall in my small town every Saturday night. Turns out theres a weekly Vampire the Masquerade game

✨neat✨

I should! Though, I need to read more adventures to get a grasp on the format. I’m also open to any blog/video recommendations that discuss adventure writing tips

Today is day 4 of Tolktober - and the theme is: wings.

If you don't know what's all that about yet, it's kinda like #inktober but better, because it's focusing on Tolkien.

Idea: Dungeon Truffle Piggy Bank

Large magical pigs that can smell gold from great distances, and have some sort of pocket dimension stomach that can store hoards of gold

Adventurers are hired by “gold farmers” to protect these vulnerable pigs as they root around dungeons

I've been waiting all year to repost this 🎃
A pumpkin patch in a variety of shapes and colours, some with carved faces with different expressions. Between the pumpkins are black and white cats, crows, frogs, bushes, twigs and mushrooms.

I feel like the character designer behind Franklin has strong opinions about the difference between Scalies and Furries

Not sure when I’ll get around to it because I’m in the middle of another project—neither of which have a deadline

I have the urge to rewrite Hammer & Nail implementing some ideas I used in Inventory Monsters…

I just feel like the system can be more streamlined

Just to keep this in the thread, apparently Cairn 2e’s Wardens Guide has all the answers (who would have guessed?)
toucantsam.bsky.social
I just realized the answer to my question is in Cairn 2e’s Warden Guide…

I’m happy for the conversation that came from this post, so no regrets

Interesting… It looks like Mausritter uses “C”

I’m curious if you’d still use a STR save to avoid critical damage when it comes to venomous/poisonous bites
toucantsam.bsky.social
Also, I’m being vague on purpose because I don’t want to doxx the person I had this conversation with. Just want to vent

*Technically they mentioned one bathroom that was a few blocks away, but I can’t help but think about that scene in Hidden Figures where the main character had to walk really far to find a bathroom that wasn’t “whites only”

“The homeless keep urinating and defecating wherever they want outside my office”

Well, how many public restrooms are there downtown?

“None. Because they would just use them to shoot up drugs”

I mean, they are probably doing heroin because it’s more accessible than a doctors visit or Rx meds

While we are on the topic of Goblins, here’s my pitch to use Bears instead
toucantsam.bsky.social
in a fairytail setting, bears should fill the ecological niche of goblins 🧵
