And you never know if the other person will ever finish that project, let alone publish it. We always have thousands of reasons not to write -- I try not to let this be one of them :)

For me it's not so much that anyone would be bothered to use my idea (after all, they would still have to do all the work). It's more that I don't want to blow off my pent-up energy and excitement around it before it's ready -- and possibly even get it shot down. So yes, a little precious.
