The Mission View window is pretty much done! I made some low level changes to unit missions where I'll be tracking them on "units lost" versus "current HP" over "max HP" which will undoubtedly break the Repair Bay.

The weather system change logic is pretty much done. Every minute the game will decide to either strengthen, weaken or keep weather the same.

Been needing to add more debugging tools in-game as they might eventually come in handy while testing on real hardware, so I just added a whole new selection menu to #SATTERM!

While I'm busy developing the weather system for #SATTERM, I thought I'd do a bit of a "Creature Feature" of the units by presenting the humble ATV!

Since it's the quickest and cheapest ground based, it means it's great for scouting!

Ended up redoing my multiplication and division math routines (8 bit and 16 bit) to be a lot faster and now I need to check for bugs since of course everything uses these routines.

Riiight, so I've been working on the mission tick logic for SATTERM. I'm trying to fit a single "step" in between each VBlank, however discovered that when it comes to mining, that while the #GameBoy Color is fast enough in double speed mode, the DMG isn't. Time to optimise. 🤷‍♂️ #gamedev #gbdev

Guh, macOS 26 has been so absolutely awful. Updated to 26.1, and while it fixed a lot of issues, it's now introduced new ones such as Emulicious (that I do debugging in for SATTERM) being incredibly laggy, even after making sure my installed Java is up to date.

After fixing the Repair Bay I went back to the Mission View and tweaked it a little. I wasn't really happy with the fact that you couldn't see if the mission was moving, fighting or idling.

Took a bit of a detour today. I've been unhappy with saturation on the IPS/OLED modded #gameboy Color, and manually tweaking or figuring out a good desaturation algo just hasn't paid off, so I built an in-game colour palette tester.

Refactored the window UI drawing macro since it’s gotten a bit clunky with the tech debt, and wow, it’s amazing now. I’ll post some screenshots a bit later to show what I can do with it now.

Making progress! The Active Missions window will display a summary of each mission with the mission's remaining unit count, experienced weather, current position and destination. You can then drill down each mission summary.

Quick WIP screenshot of the Logistics building’s main window. In short it functions like a drone controller; lose power or the building gets destroyed, and your units will stop moving.

Been spending some time implementing the fission reactor into SATTERM. Fuel cells, while provided for free, are limited by USC. Also there's a warm-up/cool-down time for the reactor, so aim not to get attacked.

Been busy with power management systems for SATTERM. The latest inclusion is the humble solar array! Solar effectivity will be affected by the position of the sun relative to your base, and the weather effects currently there.
