I second this. I'm very much enjoying Edge of Fate. Playing through the legendary campaign with my wife is a blast.

The answer to that is easy (and horrible) to ICE they either believe they are superior to or outright dont see the people they abduct as people. Viewing them as subhuman helps you justify doing whatever you want.
