I'd argue that the word "hacking" didn't need to be placed here anywhere.

Just use the keys right in front of you and get the full tour: customer databases, invoices, internal dashboards, even write access to some production sites. One bucket alone had over 70 TB of data.

Still has some quirks (and/or missing parts in the docs) and some configurations that not obvious to configure (e.g. how to group services into applications or clusters), but it works quite nicely.

P.S.: I'm Tobi, a full-stack engineer who's been through the AWS hell more times than I'd like to admit. I put together some free animations to break down how the main AWS services actually tick. Worth a look if you want to see how things fit together. 👋

Finding out the metrics and their required parameters (e.g. some Lambda metrics are only per function, some are per account; or some DynamoDB metrics are per table, some per operation) is quite tedious ⚡️
November 14, 2025 at 7:56 AM
Seriously, AWS, how is that even possible?
Outstanding work! ⚡️

Reminder: you can't simply change a log group's storage class after it's created. You'd need to "manually" move it to another group, so be sure that Infrequent Access is the right class before going with it!
