I had two long conversations with graduating seniors from my church today, and I have to say, moments like that are extremely rewarding - seeing the amazing, compassionate, smart adult humans they have grown into.

I am listening to “The Spellshop” by @sarahbethdurst.bsky.social and a quote resonated with me for the present moment we are in:
“Why bother, when the world’s problems were so large? Because, it’s what I can do, and maybe I can find a way to help.”

My second Christmastime in the upper Midwest. While I admit that snow can be a bit of a pain - slippery roads and cold weather aren’t fun - there is something a little bit magical, as someone raised in Texas, about seeing Christmas lights in the snow.

One thing which I find entertaining during the winter here is how many turkeys flock together. The flock was even bigger Tuesday morning - 40-50 of them.

Move to Northern Illinois they said. It will be fun, they said. As someone raised in Texas, temps like this are somewhat unreal (and yes, I do know it gets colder) 🥶🥶🥶

I went to see #Wicked today and it was so amazingly good. I loved every second of it - the music was top notch (especially Cynthia, Ariana and Jonathan), and I loved the sociatal commentary, about standing up for the marginalized, and doing more than performative activism.

Today, I am quite thankful for faithful church volunteers who manage to keep things going when I have laryngitis, and can’t play my usual role on a Sunday morning. Now, to rest up and hopefully heal. I am SO over this being sick thing.
