My dad always gleefully called extra innings extra beers but I think even he would be less than gleeful.

Go Jays. I get the special beer mug tonight.

We brought the pumpkin in when it was still a scoreless game because we have hardly any candy left and also, baseball!

Don’t jinx it!!! Just home from the watch party at the Dome. So much fun. Plus there was free popcorn 😆 Thanks Toronto people for being so cool.

Keep reading Mr. Canada First. I think you’ll be surprised when you hear some of the things Jesus et al have to say.

As I was leaving, Mr. Canada First was still ranting about how Marxism never freed anyone, how we needed to accept God into our lives and that he isn’t a fascist but actually a biblicist. It seems as though he hasn’t made it to the New Testament yet.

After a couple of hours, Canada First walked up the sidewalk to confront No Hate directly. The police moved in pretty quickly. One person was arrested but it was not clear to which sign the arrestee was aligned.

There were masses of cops and artillery—cops on foot, on horseback, on bikes—keeping the groups apart and contained. At one point, they moved the Canada First group farther to the west of the park to increase the distance.

A group of goodies faced off against the Canada First racists at Queen’s Park today. On our side, music, treats and messages of welcome.

This powerful coalition (food banks, housing advocates, disability rights activists and tenant groups) of amazing people gathered at Queens Park this morning to make the case for the opposite while this harmful legislation was being tabled inside the building.

I did follow the procession to the lake. I took this pic from east of Sugar Beach. They look great on the lake but to really see the colours, start with the launch in the river. Here is a pic but it is crappy. It looks way more impressive in real life.

I went yesterday. It was lovely. You can see it today at 11 or 4. The canoes start in Biidaasige Park (at Cherry and Commissioner). Here are some of my pics.

I made the famous plum torte (cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/3783...). It is delicious. Thank you Maria Burro.

Hee hee. Divine. A favourite of mine is Regina Giddens.

Aaah. Monday. I am enjoying the rain however.

Love this sooo much. Robert Redford certainly leaves a treasure trove of fascinating movies for us to enjoy and All the President’s Men is one of my favourites. (I always liked to imagine my dad’s work day was like this back when he was starting out before all the computers and stuff.)

So weird. I’ve just been rewatching this. They’d rescue me and then we’d go to the pub.

I like how some of her work is in French and English. "I'm a Canadian. I believe in Canada. We should work for Canadian unity— English and French-as Canadians, not as anti-Americans. We should be more positive about ourselves." It seems a little old fashioned in some ways but also good.

And in light of my battles with Ai, this resonated for sure. “Death to US Technological Imperialism!”

I found the Wieland exhibit incredibly moving. Old friends and new discoveries. I didn’t realize how very funny she is.

If you are in Toronto between now and mid-October, check it out.

Serendipity this week.
I listened to the @ppfideas.bsky.social The History of Bad Ideas: Identity podcast the other day. Today I saw this at the Joyce Wieland show at the @agotoronto.bsky.social. Indeed!
