Agreed, but the reason Russia still believes they have a chance is because the current US admin has been f&cking over Ukraine and Europe for the past 10 months. And Trump's stranglehold over the GOP meant that no arms went to Ukraine for 9 months in 2024. A just peace could have come sooner.
