The book is very even-handed, and in the end I guess as with so many artists you just have to separate the work, and accept that people are complicated and messy

Um, I am very familiar with John Martyn's albums haha
traceythorn.bsky.social
I'm not sure I am, will have to check it out

Oh fantastic! You might want to try the John Martyn albums Bless The Weather, and Solid Air. Just for starters!

Late 60s Hampstead was a SCENE - Richard and Linda Thompson living round the corner from John and Beverley, and Nick Drake just down the road. All of them hanging out and drinking wine. A brief little folk-rock heaven (yes I know it all went a bit shit you don't have to tell me)

Currently reading the fantastic John Martyn biog by @graemethomson.bsky.social and walked across Hampstead Heath this morning with this track blasting in my ears. Probably passed the very spot where that cover photo taken. open.spotify.com/track/1ea5h9...

Learning to play a piece called Show-Type Tune by Bill Evans, which is exactly what it sounds like - a kind of *show tune* which is really beautiful but then suddenly a bit *out there* because of course this is Bill Evans. I mean either that or I'm just getting the notes wrong.

Ah that'll teach me to be slow! Nice idea x

Agree with you. Our MOTH gigs cost 35 quid which I think is very good value haha

D'you mean you don't like Dylan's singing, or you really don't like ANY of his songs, even sung by other people? Am not having a go, just fascinated!
traceythorn.bsky.social
Oh Sam, sending love and condolences xxx

Ah look I don't even really know you but I don't want you to be embarrassed. Look at everyone gathering round you here. All of us with shit we could be embarrassed about. Life innit. All best to you x

Yes everything I read suggested the main character was eccentrically CHARMING whereas to me he seemed like your worst nightmare of a stalker fan, plus irritating.

I went to see it cos people RAVED about it, and I thought it was...okaaay...? Main character I just found weirdly annoying, and the two folkies seemed to me to be too young for the plot to really make any sense. But there it is.

Hundred more pages of Dracula this afternoon and I am now completely hooked. I would say it has got its teeth into me. I'm not even sure I WANT to be reading it, but I can't stop. Fucking VAMPIRE of a novel 😬

I’m curled up indoors, hiding from the rain, recovering from a flu jab, and reading Dracula. It’s fucking creepy isn’t it why didn’t you tell me. Brrrrrr

Love this piece, and now very much want to visit Bevis Marks xx
traceythorn.bsky.social
HAHA oh god I love Ron Swanson
traceythorn.bsky.social
