Still on Twitter btw. Both places suck shit.
But I don't like 90s aesthetic! And yet so many greats are 90s.

33-Bloodstained Ritual of the Night
34-Bloodstained Curse of the Moon
35-Bloodstained Curse of the Moon 2

IGA proving how influential he is, but also kudos to the entire teams from bringing back Castlevania to today. I'd even count ROTN's classic modes as separate cause they're that good.

30-Double Dragon Neon
31-River City Girls
32-River City Girls 2

I will never forgive IGN for almost sinking the team behind these games. Yes, it's just a review. But Neon was the best of modern Double Dragon.
RCG at least more than made up for lack of Neon 2.

29-Hollow Knight Silksong

What else needs to be said? I know. PLAY PANTHEON! Get a taste for killing false gods!

26-Guacamelee
27-Guacamelee 2

Be it age or plain shifting preferences of the times, it's sad I don't play more multiplayer games with progression. And both of these were loads of fun.

24-Ori and the Blind Forest
25-Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Divisive, and I can see why. My main problem is with the sequel overheating my old GPU. WTAF!?
Anyway, I liked the 1st one enough and the 2nd IMO is better despite that problem. Visually both are beauties.

23-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder's Revenge

Another one close to my heart. TMNT beat em ups is just that nostalgic, and this one takes the cake.

22-Salt and Sanctuary

Soulslike metroidvania. Admittedly wasn't too into it at first but it grew on me.

21-Rogue Legacy

Great roguelike, I mean it. But this is where I realised the genre was a tough sell for me.

20-Battleblock theater

From the same makers, a puzzle platformer this time.

19-Castle Crashers

Early experience, and feels somewhat personal on a parasocial level. Coming from Newgrounds, it could've been so much worse. But Newgrounds is a place of fun and creativity, and this has both.

18-Blasphemous

Souls-like Metroidvania are a thing these days. 2 of the most poorly named genres... *cough*
Anyway. I didn't feel it was too difficult. Certainly punishing, so like most souls-like experience.

17-Valdis Story

Another metroidvania. I can't call it special but it's precisely why I love the genre, badly named as it is.

16-LIMBO

One of the earliest indie experiences for me.

15-Dead Cells

Anyone check the funny animations for this one?
2nd roguelike of the list, and the first I played. Probably the best one for me as well.

14-Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley

Sometimes a layed-back experience is what I want most from my games. And in a weird world of hippo-trolls.

Stealth and jumpy. REAL jumpy.

While we're on run-n-gun, here's Contra gameplay spiritually if it was made with home console gameplay in mind instead of arcade. And the visuals!

11-Broforce

Run n gun multiplayer fun, could be for single player too I guess. What I imagine playing Contra is like mentally.

10-Undertale

Funny story: I only got it cause my friend wasn't a fan in the least. Tbf, I kinda get where they're coming from. But not even a toxic fanbase will keep me away from this one.
December 15, 2025 at 10:09 AM
9-Skul The Hero Slayer

First roguelike of the list. It's a love-hate relation for me when it comes to the genre. This one drew me in with the pixel art.

8- Human Fall Flat

Part of me wishes we got more games that felt janky to control.
All about the custom levels, fun alone and with friends.
December 15, 2025 at 10:09 AM
7-Time Spinner

Who knew I'd live to see a metroidvania with Order of Ecclessia's combat? Story felt engaging as well.

Difficulty is satisfying, but you will be challenged. At least you have the option to "cheat" if it feels too much, and it did for me at one point.

5-Shovel Knight Treasure Trove

I dig it 🙃
