Yeah, I also have been impacted. I was laid off with other translator in 2024, and I went back to freelancing, but the scenario is much different than when I was a freelancer around 2012 - 2015. My monthly income dropped around 70%, and I have been struggling to pay the bills.

It's such a deeply depressing reflection of our industry that shows that NO GAME, no matter how it's made, is immune to localization being treated as an afterthought despite the fact that it impacts the experience of literal millions of players.

Eu lembro de uma pergunta uma vez que era "Isso aqui significa X ou Y nesse contexto" e a resposta foi literalmente "Yes"; igual do meme. É de se descaralhar mesmo. (perdão o trocadilho com sua @).

Infelizmente é raro mandarem referências e contexto. Quase sempre, mandam só um Excel com as strings a serem traduzidas e é isso. Tradutores que lutem.

E nem sempre a culpa é dos tradutores. Na maioria das vezes, o texto vem sem contexto nenhum pra traduzirmos e nem sempre o cliente tá lá pra responder às dúvidas ou contextualizar essas coisas. LQA é essencial pra não passar essas coisas.

Tem outros erros parecidos. Uma pena. Um LQA bem feito teria resolvido e deviam ter corrigido essas coisas num patch.

Very interesting read! It's nice to see how the localization improved over the years! I played the original PS1 and the PSP versions. Definitely enjoyed more the PSP at the time.
