Yes. It’s dire here because oftentimes both the husband and wife work at the same mill because it’s the only option and limited transportation/childcare options, so when furloughs happen, the entire family is without income.

I don’t know. I work in low income rentals in rural GA. Our average rent for a 2 bed house is $700/month, which sounds great. But there are no jobs. Everyone works in local mills that furlough employees randomly for weeks at a time. Or in crappy retail jobs. It’s a nightmare.

I think about this every time a new social media platform is announced and we have to produce new and different content but the vast majority of those platforms never stick. I’m glad Bsky is here but I will never forget the whole Clubhouse push. 😅
