I don’t normally photograph people, but I’m trying to get better at that. My friend and partner and road trip buddy, @waywardbun.bsky.social, has been a good subject for me to practice with. It helps that I think they’re adorable, and that they also love to drive for hours to photograph industries.

The US Steel Edgar Thomson Works plant is a fantastic photo subject, and I was lucky enough to catch a Union Railroad movement with nice backlighting when I visited there recently. www.flickr.com/gp/traing33k...

This is a small photo set from the Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine in Ashland Pennsylvania. I probably should have pulled out my DSLR for this, but my phone performed surprisingly well even with the low light motion blur shots. (Thankfully that red hat is not *The* Red Hat, but it’s still a bad look.)

I finally got the chance to get underneath a truss-style power line pylon in Manchester Connecticut. This feels like a classic type of photo to me, and I’m glad to finally have my own versions of this shot.

An MBTA “commuter” train approaches Worcester Union Station. It’s nice being able to use chainlink fence as a framing element rather than cursing it, like most railfans do.

I wonder if I'm actually burnt out on social media in general, or if a nicer run platform like this one is all I need to enjoy this again? I'm going to experiment a little, and hopefully Bluesky reaches critical mass. Have an old moody snowy bus photo just because.

Worcester at sunset with the Conrail heritage unit hanging out in the yard. Fun times. I can't decide if I prefer the wide yard view with or without the chainlink fence.

I was fortunate enough to get my first cab ride ever in one of the Valley Railroad’s steam locomotives in December. So cool!
