yeah i feel you on all of this. the implication inevitably is that we’re “different” from cis men and more connected to womanhood. I’d love to embrace the “other people’s identities don’t affect you” mentality but in this case i don’t even think it’s possible at all to avoid the implications

idk i feel kind of bad thinking about them like that because ultimately trans people have such complex relationships to the concept of being desirable that I hardly think they’re doing it out of any kind of malice

i feel like this happens because overly positive (which is not completely the case for heated rivalry imo) portrayals of gay relationships are often not done by/for gay men, but rather for the enjoyment of others. it feels like exploitation. i love the show but i also get where ppl are coming from

tbh i do think that heated rivalry is impactful in the sense that it’s a well-done and very popular show about a gay relationship, and that’s something. but hearing str8 women act like being hot for it is queer activism/helps gay men in sports is just insane
