"For many, public #transit is already a lifeline. A means to connect people to work, crucial services, and loved ones. [...] the federal government needs to step up with operating support. To move away from automobile dependence, public transit must be convenient, reliable and affordable."

Would love to hear from anyone in #PEI, even after today, the final day of #WeekWithoutDrivingPEI.

Thanks to everyone who participated, who wanted to participate and reflected on what it means to be a non-driver in Charlottetown.

See you next year!

A few questions related to today's:
~Do you use different modes depending on where you're going?
~Do you use one more more in a certain season?
~Does the mode you choose depend on your destination? Why?
🤔 Ask yourselves: What's the change you want to see?

G'day #Charlottetown! We'd be keen to read your answers!
How does the way you get around town say about the city's & province's priorities for our community?
Is walking always easy & pleasant?
Is cycling always safe anytime, anywhere?
Is taking the bus convenient & efficient?

What a good question!
📌 What would Charlottetown look like if everyone living here could get around how they wanted?
Ask yourself, your neighbours, co-workers, relatives.
Ask your members, subscribers, clients, customers.

Non-drivers are uncounted and unseen, and so don't figure in transportation, public works, or land use planning. You can help change that! #WeekWithoutDrivingPEI is an opportunity for drivers to gain an understanding what #nondrivers must navigate every time they need or want to go somewhere. #PEI

Gender equity in public transportation means meeting the different needs of all genders, especially women & gender-diverse people. Designing transit through reliable schedules, well-lit routes, affordable fares & inclusive planning makes travel safer and fairer for everyone.

Car ownership expenses can quickly add up, making commuting by car a rather costly choice. Public transportation, on the other hand, absolves passengers of the responsibilities associated with fuel costs, vehicle purchase, insurance, and maintenance.
