💭Shampoo here, we went through the effort of recollecting as much art of Astraeus as we could, and figured we'd share. Uh, the first was drawn by rowanwoodcock, the rest are from people who don't like us anymore or we forgor isudhfsi. (Also Astraeus has biolumiscence because deep sea merman. Nya.)

He's a fat blue prettyboy merman with long blue hair and those fish fin ear things. he's on crutches to walk on land and, most notably, is wearing a onesie swimsuit that's clearly human design as he's shoving one merman tail into one of the human leg holes. He's also wearing a swimming cap and goggles, even if he probably doesn't need it. Astraeus in deep sea bioluminescence form. He has darker skin and glowing marks over his body, similar to a deep sea angler fish. His love interest, Bede, a man with albinism, is cuddling Astraeus from behind Astraeus lounging in a kiddie pool surrounded by greenery. He's happy and splashing some water out. Astraeus laying down casually, his gut sticking out. There's a "?" over his head as he notices something. 💭When addressing identity headcanons of characters, creators do have some responsibility on *how* they approach. One of the better examples is Rob Renzetti of MLAATR fame, who said that while Jenny was not written with it in mind, the coding and inherent nature of art makes transness a valid reading

Our personal thoughts on the ToG situation. Please do not send anyone any hate over this, but we think this summarizes our thoughts fairly well. We think this is a combo of poor wording, bad timing, first impressions, and outside hate movements contextualizing what happened

I think seeing her as trans is awesome, I see the connection when ppl talk about it, and I have also never in my career been against hcs, why would I start now? I love seeing what people take away from stories and that will always be the case. It's the beauty of fiction!" Honestly, we think that people are more upset than anything because, whether Dana likes it or not, having a character refer to a main female character with a masculine nickname through threat of physical violence, is coding enough (IN A FIRST EPISODE NO LESS) that it's easy to just. "Oh she's trans? Cool." That's the first step a lot of people have with these characters, and in their very first experience with them there was a coded scene that a solid chunk of people kind of assumed was trans? Especially considering that Dana has featured queerness in her stories before, can you really blame them for watching a queer show with a queer lens? Honestly ourselves has an odd perspective on this as a plural woman. To us Frankie clearly reads as a bit of a plural woman on top of her schizophrenia, and if Dana came out and said that they're "just delusions" when they talk back and forth + Dana's earlier writing of Eda and the Owl Beast's plurality in TOH, I'd certainly be confused and upset? But Frankie hasn't been that yet so we're like. 50% down? Idk. We guess the best way we can end this statement is we don't blame Dana for this, but that she should consider how the landscape has changed and how often transfems get thrown under the bus. I just couldn't imagine, like, Toby Fox making Undertale or Deltarune and featuring 0 gay or trans characters, saying "lgbt headcanons are valid :)", and getting the same treatment, idk. People expect a more queer presence in these indie content and we don't blame them."

Mayhaps an entire village of identical one note personality characters is fine for 1950's and translates well into the toy obsessed 1980's-1990's tv show era, but it really does become obvious this cast was a one-off village when you look at something like this (And it doesn't even have Papa Smurf)

This is also particularly insulting because they’ve finally designed Daisy’s castle, obviously Taj Mahal of India inspired, but they’re still kind of pathetically tip toeing around the fact Daisy used to have tan skin since she was whitewashed in the GameCube era. Why is she still pale?
Daisy’s castle in Mario kart world, which have the sphinx enemies from super Mario land, her debut game, as statues on it, further indicating it as Daisy’s. It is themed after Indian architecture. Daisy in an outfit that appears to be inspired by Indian belly dancer outfits. Note despite her coding Daisy is only slightly tanner than Peach.

🍦It's been three weeks, and despite many messages/emails to them, Tumblr has completely failed to communicate why our main has been shadowbanned.

We don't like being accusatory, but the reality is this happened on TDOV to a trans woman, and Tumblr staff has done nothing to dissuade it being charged
