Oversight of the Lower Thames Crossing has been taken away from National Highways and handed to the Department for Transport.

Will this go the same way as HS2 with ballooning budgets and no accountability? www.theguardian.com/business/202...

“Taking it outside of National Highways’ roads programme and treating it as a stand-alone project, with a DfT-signed blank cheque, risks going the same way as HS2 with ballooning budgets and no accountability.” - @ecochris.bsky.social in @theguardian.com www.theguardian.com/business/202...

With 6m tonnes of extra carbon emissions this will generate, the Lower Thames Crossing is anything but green, no matter how much spin there is.

Many critical rail schemes that the Government has ‘paused’ (effectively cancelled) or ignored (not funded) would offer far more in growth than the Lower Thames Crossing and provide more benefits. transportactionnetwork.org.uk/the-lower-th...

Not a single river in England is in good overall health.

National Highways, a government-owned company, needs to prioritise its funding to clean up the toxic brew polluting our rivers!

The Lower Thames Crossing has a weak business case.

A more effective way of boosting the economy would be to fix Britain’s crumbling roads throughout the whole country.

This government seems intent on wasting more of our money on the Lower Thames Crossing, while cancelling rail schemes up and down the country.

Here's why the LTC is a poor investment and a waste of precious public funds: transportactionnetwork.org.uk/the-lower-th...

Would you like to see these rail schemes up and running?

The Labour government wants to build the £16bn Lower Thames Crossing 'smart' motorway.

But for every £1 spent on it, it will only deliver £1.22 of benefits. Road maintenance delivers £7 of benefits!

... but what would be the best celebration of the railway & its capacity to serve the people would be a proper policy from the DfT to allow everyone to get onto the platforms - Access for All !

Listening to Andy Burnham on BBC Radio Manchester and the calls are mainly about: transport. Bolton caller: where’s the tram we were promised (which they were). Doesn’t personally care about the “prime minister debate”, wants to know why they spend 4 hrs commuting when they live 12 miles away

I am the consummate car guy. I dedicated my life to creating and adoring them. But I have also learned that life is better when you don’t need one. I’d rather take the bike and/or the train and I love living in a walkable city. It’s not about “taking away your car”, it’s about giving you a choice.

You can be a “car guy” and not like car dependency. You can be a “car guy” and get that too many cars in cities is bad for everyone, including drivers. You can be a “car guy” and be tired of lies & manipulations like “the war on cars.” You can be a “car guy” and know more choice means more freedom.
