Abuse almost always stems from illegitimate use of control
To all who find Sunday mornings heavy with pain and difficulty,
We see you. The hurt that makes church challenging is real and valid. Whether it’s memories of wounds inflicted in a place meant to be safe, the weight of doubt or anger at God, all this is okay, there is space for it here.

Sitting, trembling, I asked my psychiatrist "Why has this trauma hit me so hard?"
He replied, "Church abuse produces some of the worst PTSD I treat." Over time, I came to know this is true. Spiritual abuse is nasty. It ruptures not just mental and physical safety, but spiritual safety also.
