Walked the LOOP and the Capital Ring, and visited all of London's stations in alphabetical order between 2017-2022. Currently walking the London Spiral, and vaguely trying to ride all of London's bus routes. Also on IG @travellingmanofkent

Hi! Back in 2017, I embarked on a project to visit all of London's stations (National Rail, Underground, Overground, DLR, Trams, and for some reason Dangleway) in alphabetical order. It took 80 separate days spread over 5 years to visit all 599 (tbf, *something* got in the way in 2020 😷)
#Bayswater: just down the road from Queensway (tube map ≠ geographic reality); construction of the railway beneath Leinster Gardens entailed the erection of a pair of false frontages so as to maintain the road's style #AlphabeticalContactless #Underground #Circle #District #Westminster #London

Bayford: the furthest foray north so far, to this station in the middle of nowhere; one wonders if there was any celebration for its 100th birthday last June #Bayford #AlphabeticalContactless #trains #GreatNorthern #Hertfordshire
September 16, 2025 at 4:27 PM
Battersea Power Station: the joint newest station on the Underground; the titular building seems be to be more and more hemmed in by new blocks of flats every time I'm here #BatterseaPowerStation #AlphabeticalContactless #Underground #Northern #Wandsworth #London
September 16, 2025 at 4:02 PM
Battersea Park: opened as York Road (Battersea), taking its current name 18 years later; possibly the worst access to platforms of any station in London, with steep narrow staircases the only option #BatterseaPark #AlphabeticalContactless #trains #Southern #Wandsworth #London
September 16, 2025 at 3:25 PM
Bat & Ball: managed by Southeastern but served exclusively by Thameslink; named after a (sadly closed) nearby pub (strangely there is no evidence of cricket ever being played in the area, the general origin of that pub name) #Bat&Ball #AlphabeticalContactless #trains #Southeastern #Kent
September 16, 2025 at 1:21 PM
Basildon: post-war new town whose station didn't materialise until 1974; hometown of one of the greatest bands of all time (in my not so humble opinion): Depeche Mode 🖤 #Basildon #AlphabeticalContactless #trains #c2c #Essex

(there's a shocking lack of commemoration of DM tbqh)

What a beautiful day to visit some stations 😎 #AlphabeticalContactless

Barons Court: possibly named for a Northern Irish estate with which one of the architects of the area was linked; District and Piccadilly's last cross-platform interchange before central London #BaronsCourt #AlphabeticalContactless #Underground #District #Piccadilly #Hammersmith&Fulham #London
August 16, 2025 at 7:20 PM
Barnes Bridge: near a bridge, in Barnes (who'd've thunk); arguably the better station for Barnes itself these days #BarnesBridge #AlphabeticalContactless #trains #SouthWesternRailway #RichmonduponThames #London
August 16, 2025 at 7:15 PM
Barnes: 4 platforms set among the idyllic Barnes Common Nature Reserve; Gary Lineker walks past as I exit the station 👀 #Barnes #AlphabeticalContactless #trains #SouthWesternRailway #RichmonduponThames #London
August 16, 2025 at 7:11 PM
Barnehurst: the first (or last depending on your direction) station on the Bexleyheath line; on departure eastwards trains can turn left or right to Slade Green or Dartford (what a choice) #Barnehurst #AlphabeticalContactless #trains #Southeastern #Bexley #London
August 16, 2025 at 3:21 PM
Barkingside: the elegant Edwardian cupola-surmounted building is increasingly at contrast with the development taking shape adjacent; the area is possibly best known for the foundation of Barnardo's children's charity #Barkingside #AlphabeticalContactless #Underground #Central #Redbridge #London
August 16, 2025 at 2:06 PM
Barking Riverside: one of London's newest railway stations, serving one of its newest neighbourhoods; the station still has a certain lonely, isolated quality, perched on its viaduct #BarkingRiverside #AlphabeticalContactless #Overground #Suffragette #Barking&Dagenham #London
August 16, 2025 at 1:24 PM
#Barking: green, pink and orange (green) all collide at this east London portal; the long-term refurb of the station building seems to be proceeding at glacial pace #AlphabeticalContactless #Underground #trains #Overground #District #Hammersmith&City #Suffragette #c2c #Barking&Dagenham #London
August 16, 2025 at 12:04 PM
#Barbican: neé Aldersgate, it's loomed over by the towers of the divisive Barbican Estate; 2 now disused platforms formerly hosted National Rail services between Farringdon and Moorgate #AlphabeticalContactless #Underground #Circle #HammersmithandCity #Metropolitan #CityofLondon #London

Morning! A brutal start to the day... #AlphabeticalContactless
August 16, 2025 at 10:42 AM
Banstead: single platform served by a half-hourly all-stations service from Victoria; nowhere near the settlement it purports to serve, which is a good 20 minute walk away up a rather steep hill #Banstead #AlphabeticalContactless #trains #Southern #Surrey
August 7, 2025 at 2:15 PM
#Bank: an absolute rabbit's warren of platforms, escalators and never ending corridors, all contained within what I'm fairly sure is one of the circles of hell; probably my least favourite #Underground station #AlphabeticalContactless #Central #DLR #Northern #WaterlooandCity #CityofLondon #London
August 7, 2025 at 1:04 PM
Balham: self-proclaimed "Gateway to the South"; oddly London's first station alphabetically to be served by both tube and National Rail (although Amersham pips it in this project) #Balham #AlphabeticalContactless #Underground #trains #Northern #Southern #Wandsworth #London
August 7, 2025 at 12:07 PM
#BakerStreet: where it all began 162 years ago; a bit of a maze now with #Bakerloo and #Jubilee in the mix (although cross-platform proximity makes that particular interchange... elementary) #AlphabeticalContactless #Underground #Circle #HammersmithandCity #Metropolitan #Westminster #London
August 7, 2025 at 11:48 AM
Avenue Road: hidden away in the heart of residential Beckenham, it's not terrifically surprising that it's the least used tram stop in London; it's also the last station beginning with A! #AvenueRoad #AlphabeticalContactless #trams #Bromley #London
August 7, 2025 at 10:14 AM
Ashford (Surrey) [the contactless expansion hasn't gone to southeast Kent just yet]: skipped by the Reading fasts but Windsor and Weybridge remain accessible; oddly I've still never been to its counterpart in my home county 🤔 #Ashford #AlphabeticalContactless #trains #SouthwesternRailway #Surrey
July 29, 2025 at 7:09 PM
Arsenal: renamed from Gillespie Road after some tinpot football club upped sticks from Woolwich; the original frontage occupied the width of just two terraced houses (and the current one isn't much wider) #Arsenal #AlphabeticalContactless #Underground #Piccadilly #Islington #London
July 29, 2025 at 5:19 PM
Arnos Grove: a fabulous Holden creation, with circular drum topped ticket hall (although the platforms are rather gloomy); the name derives from the Arnold family, landowners in the area in the Middle Ages #ArnosGrove #AlphabeticalContactless #Underground #Piccadilly #Enfield #London
July 29, 2025 at 5:11 PM
Arena: because "South Norwood Country Park" wouldn't fit on the signs; one of only 3 junction stations on the tram network #Arena #AlphabeticalContactless #trams #Croydon #London
