I spent an evening with PUP the band, who described themselves as “like Weezer but worse." Which is not true, but as Stefan Babcock said, "It’s easier to be disliked than liked."

If you like rock music, check them out, and read about them here:

Rock is dead? No one told these self-deprecating Toronto punks.
The Toronto quartet PUP, who just released their fifth album, “Who Will Look After the Dogs?,” is living proof that pop hasn’t completely conquered the airwaves.

Do you think it was awkward for the Eagles to spend an hour in the locker room during the lightning delay with Jalen Carter

Hurricane Katrina hit my hometown 20 years ago. I feel honored for the opportunity to write about one small slice of it -- the Superdome, and its triumph resurrection. This one was really special to me. Please check it out:

The New Orleans rebirth started with the Superdome
The iconic stadium was a symbol of everything Hurricane Katrina tore apart 20 years ago. Then came the comeback.

New story from me:

I hung out with Rich Eisen as he hosted his first episode of SportsCenter in 22 years and talked to him about what it feels like to re-board the ESPN mothership.

The Kennedy Center has dropped the family who made the Honors medallions for 47 years and who were the definition of a family business. @janaykingsberry.bsky.social spoke to them (and I offered some meager assistance). Take a look:

To be clear, the Grateful Dead were not making the medallions 🤣

I should add, very little else about this is standard. The president hosting is not standard. The president joking (?) that he will give himself an honor is not standard. Most of what has happened at the center is not standard.
travismandrews.bsky.social
For the record I'm not saying anything that has happened in how the honorees were chosen, or much else, at the center is normal. I'm just stating that the actual class of honorees feels fairly standard for the KenCen Honors. NOT normal is the president hosting it, or claiming he'll give himself one.

Some House Republicans want to rename the Kennedy Center's Opera House after the first lady. One wants to rename the entire center after Trump. So, can they? I looked into it:

www.washingtonpost.com/entertainmen...
Can part of the Kennedy Center be renamed for the Trumps? How about all of it?
The short answer: It depends on who is doing the renaming.

Bill Camp is the ultimately That Guy. One of Hollywood’s — and Broadway’s — hardest working actors. Also one of the world’s best. I’ve been fascinated by him for years so I went to New York to find out what makes him tick. My latest:

Bill Camp is the platonic ideal of a ‘That Guy’
In the past year alone, character actor Bill Camp appeared in Netflix’s “Sirens,” and “Zero Day,” HBO’s “The Gilded Age” and AppleTV+’s “Presumed Innocent.”

I saw this at a bookstore and was reminded that this series is arguably the best thing the Washington Post has produced in the last year.

Naturally, the section that produced it, Opinion, has been gutted.
