Laszlo Krasznahorkai, a Hungarian novelist known for his dark, apocalyptic themes and intricate sentences that can run on for pages, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature on Thursday. (New York Times) His latest work to appear in English is "Herscht 07769," published last year in the United States. The novel, which imagines a graffiti cleaner in Germany who writes letters to Chancellor Angela Merkel to alert her to the world's impending destruction, features only one period in its 400 pages. (New York Times) (Sam O’Nella YouTube Video Screenshot) Timothy Dexter sits at a table angrily penning an epilogue for the second edition of his rambling autobiography that included no punctuation. The epilogue included a full page of only punctuation and a note inviting readers to take a more active role in punctuating their own copy with the punctuation he’d now provided herein… stated in a far less eloquent fashion.
