I think these takes are a case of money illusion for millennials who still implicitly are tied to circa 2010-ish income/prices -- $150k was the 90th percentile of income in 2010, but only 65th-ish in 2024!

like, the implication is to do basic exercise and not be fat, not necessarily to blast super high intensity intervals, but people often misread the vo2max correlation to be the latter

I do think that there's some features of jobs (RTO, barely restrained CEO glee at reducing headcount via AI, sticker shock at healthcare premiums) that actually do represent a large degradation relative to 2022 and even pre-pandemic.
