I find it difficult to get invested in media that lacks conflict, and what I really need to escape is to be fully engrossed in a story where people who suffer in ways similar to me triumph in ways I haven't

Unless you are approaching this "debate" with the knowledge that the anti-trans side wants to eradicate us from public life you are going to fail to understand what is happening and be completely unequipped to argue against them
