DEWR sought an assurance report on the Targeted Compliance Framework. They got it. It told them clearly that the TCF could NOT be assured. And yet the government continues to administer this unlawful system so it can suspend income support payments for bullshit reasons.

Now that the Deloitte report, about the government's unlawful administration of mutual obligations, is making international headlines, it's worth looking at what's actually in it (apart from AI slop) and WHY it was actually commissioned

Insane idea when Woodside projects in WA is 6% of total carbon budget for 1.5 C
Totally disingenuous take
Too gutless to just admit they've given up on any limit to FF use
Why wouldn't everyone else take the same idiotic justification if they could?
Only certainty is even greater climate impact

The 'statement of reasons' given by enviro minister Murray Watt approving the North West Shelf gas project extension contains some astonishing mental gymnastics.
He assumes the same level of emissions could occur even if the project didn't proceed

As a local the organisation was already held in contempt by many
Just adding to the mess almost exactly 3 years after the climate driven disaster that bought such an incompetent org into existence
By posting the locals data straight into the mire of AI & then the world

I’m old enough to remember when the Greens tried to negotiate better and more immediate outcomes and got called blockers and wreckers.

The ALP campaign on this was successful, the Greens had to back down. A victory, of sorts, if you call building zero homes a victory.

The PM wants to build homes like the one he grew up in. These days, it's harder
It takes a long time to build anything at all in Australia's dysfunctional housing market, even for the federal government, but Labor's social housing fund is inching towards an impact.

This was from Jane Goodall’s Facebook.

It doesn’t require explanation, it’s just a beautiful thing.

Labor could have done something significant for first home buyers, but instead has dropped them into an outrageously expensive market with the burden of a 95% mortgage to boot.

Why can't we have the tax reform that will actually help and that the Greens are pushing for?

Reading it was infuriating so writing must have been truly maddening
Such an important record of Aus gov mercenary attitude to citizens and complicity in hiding total incompetence
Hard to feel those responsible have got what they deserve
Deserved recognition for you

It is an indictment on Labor to have chosen a weak, unambitious and deadly climate target while First Nations people in this country already bear the brunt of extreme heat.

Labor knows their 62% target will lock in >2°C warming and heat will continue to kill and displace people.

“Every year we leave the Cop depressed, but we will begrudgingly continue to participate because if we’re not at the table we’ll be on the menu”

Exactly.
Australian political & media class obsess about whether we get to host the next Cop.
But fail to recognize the hypocrisy of a fossil-fueled govt.

No Premier, it is not socials vs scientists. It is unequivocal science showing that new coal and gas puts the safety of our kids’ future on the planet at risk. This is not a keyboard war. Our responsibility is to act on the science - not denigrate it. Not run Santos’ lines to protect their profit.

The Sumud Flotilla is under attack. Thiago Ávila, a Brazilian organiser, reports 10 drone attacks on the smaller boats, seemingly to destroy their sails. Citizens from the entire world are aboard. It is carrying food for the victims of genocide. Governments need to protect it.
