This could be a great opportunity for the city to do a pilot project/study to see if proactively spending on protection could prevent the later need for costly removals!

It also reminds of how important it is to keep mature trees standing. The cost of removing a mature elm due to DED is roughly the same as 10 years of protection with Arbotect!

This crowdfunding effort is a prime example of the passion and care that Winnipeggers have for trees, and has already raised $3800!

Mentioned in the story is a Wolseley crowdfunding effort to protect the remaining 170 boulevard American Elms on Westminster and Wolseley Aves.

And in 2019, the pruning rate was every 31 years.

Now, as of 2023, the rate for park trees has improved to every 13.8 years (target = every 12 years) and for boulevard trees is every 10.4 years (target = every 7 years).
