It genuinely gives the same energy as those zealous pastors who hound and accuse random people around them of being "sinners" on top of other heinous shit, and it turns out they're the ones engaging in abusive or predatory behavior behind closed doors.

2) Our constant demand that Democrats follow a double standard while Republicans are to be graded on a curve is itself a real race-to-the-bottom. If someone breaks the norms, you engage in tit-for-tat until they cease their unhinged behavior. You don't reward it by making double standards normal.
