the inspiration for this one came from a very weird source — I’m fascinated by early posters and advertising with Bibendum, the Michelin Man, and something about this one stood out to me
A scan of a Michelin advertisement in French, circa 1912. It features Bib, the Michelin Man, riding a bike with one of his legs kicked up over the handlebars, holding a cigar as the smoke billows behind him. The bike’s whitewall tires match Bib’s tone. The text reads “Le Mellieur, Le Moins Cher — Pneu Vélo Michelin.” In English: “The Best, The Cheapest — Michelin Bike Tires.”
