Actual Data Scientist, imaginary everything else. I also like music.
On LLMs and learning - "You cannot LLM your way into domain knowledge, data analaysis, or coding ability".
I like the idea of frustration tolerance. Learning anything new is always going to be slow and awkward at first and that is essential when venturing outside one's comfort zone.

It's very much worth repeating this because I don't think a lot of people will know it. To clarify, LLMs (Large Language Models) are ChatGPT et al. They output words into a sequence that are understandable by humans, they don't understand anything themselves, and we project onto them.
Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

This a much better term. Filling gaps in knowledge rather than an admission of not knowing.
Great point by @anilseth.bsky.social on the dangers of anthropomorphising current LLMs at the Ernst Mach Workshop in Prague organised by @tmarvan.bsky.social @jakubmihalik.bsky.social @sfink.bsky.social

I was saddened yesterday to hear of the death of Pere Ubu's David Thomas. I was remembering the times I saw him play, from live soundtracking "It Came from Outer Space" (in 3D) to playing as Ubudoll with Jackie Leven in a tiny pub at the end of my road. I'm going to miss his unique voice for sure.

I was watching Yellowjackets and noticed the name of Craig Wedren flash on the screen as co-composer of the theme tune. I double-checked this, and it's the same Craig Wedren who was in Shudder to Think.

What I love most about this album is that despite appearing as technical or progressive which could also mean cold or overly-intellectual. It's warm, entertaining, funny even, with a fresh-sounding precision courtesy of using touch guitars.

If you like both King Crimson, and heavier music then this is well worth a listen.

Tell us your business plan is flawed, without telling us your business plan is flawed.
"Sorry, we can't make this technology that sucks and nobody wants and that uses enough power to blow up the moon unless we *also* steal people's shit to throw into our content woodchipper in order to produce mediocre digital particleboard out of the cumulative artbarf."
