Dear Bluesky, it's okay to not have a strong opinion on everything.

Comics media need to find a better balance at catering for the reader's tastes and being tastemakers.

Anyone have a particularly hot comic take?

Creators should stop using the term "OC" when talking about their characters and creations. It's an insular term that does a disservice to your creations.

Hopefully my "build-your-own-sandwich" analogy in the "How to read Age of Revelation" section makes sense!

It's something that I think comics/fandom media can strive to do more. There are a lot of very predictable and narrow lists out there.

That's not to say all outlets are like that, but there's definitely some larger ones who fall into that category.

Also, their lists usually have a good balance of essentials, deep cuts, and "what about this instead?" picks.

Pitchfork is the master of the list that's both mostly good but has just enough to outrage people with their placements.

I don't normally ask this, but could you please share far and wide. This massive guide took me 3 weeks to do and derailed the rest of the site's post output in the process.

You've been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who's coming to save you?

Uh oh...

That's not to say the publisher is completely devoid of ideas but the publisher lean on it waaaay to hard on cheap nostalgia instead of taking risks. You've got to regularly invest in new ideas otherwise you have nothing new to milk in the future.

Marvel have been too reliant on retreading the past/nostalgia for the last 5-7 years. They're going to run out of things to mine soon and be stuck with nothing but go back to well do the same stuff over and over again with diminishing results.

Remind me to write some shorter posts on the site. Too many posts have felt like a marathon lately.

Stories like this don’t end.

This is like when a prominent comic artist got into a tizzy when Kareem Abdul-Jabbar didn't reference him when discussing his work in a newsletter.

I won't be at San Diego Comic Con. However, I will be sharing HEAPS of news/announcements coming out it throughout the weekend on this account.

I'll also be rapidly updating relevant guides and potentially publishing one or two new ones too.
