Last #svrunclub for the school year! Standing by the rose bush that looked dead all year and has now bloomed into something beautiful, our metaphor for middle school. #belonging #magicofthemiddle #1000mileclub

South View’s spring musical is one of the best examples creativity, collaboration, communication, and inclusion. It is a no cut program that sells out all of its shows. Very grateful for all the staff and parent volunteers that create this experience for over 100 Ss. #belonging #magicofthemiddle

Our data is showing improvements in standardized test scores, academics and belonging survey responses. Belonging “club” flexes has contributed to these encouraging results. Learn how we did this from our AMLE article. Thank you @amleorg.bsky.social for the generous grant!
You've heard of flex time, but how about Belonging Flexes? Or Exploratory Flex Days?

Check out how one school used AMLE Grant funds to launch an innovative scheduling framework👉 ow.ly/9sL250VEHVr

P.S. The deadline to apply for this year's grant is May 1! 🗓️

South view’s polar plunge raised $77,998 dollars! That money is shared between our school and the Special Olympics. This speaks to the impact our unified program has on our entire school. Congrats to our amazing Unified team that led these efforts and planned for a school wide #polarplunge!

Learner led conferences are designed to create status & agency. Learners share work samples, current grades, friends/stress/overall feelings, & ways they are developing executive functioning skills. 8th graders lead with same advisor for 3 yrs bc of #mutliageadvisory. #cultureofdignity #belonging

Parallel structures are how we get the work done. Modeling learning pathways (seminar, collaboration, & independent) for literacy instruction during a staff meeting. The reading connects to the purpose of our learner-led conferences. This is how we explain them to families: youtu.be/o_mu1cisGbw?...

An important part of supporting middle level learners is allowing them to explore & learn about themselves & the world around them. Recently we tapped into community partnerships & hosted 77 different career speakers for an “Exploratory Day”. Learners choose which sessions they attended & loved it.

Thank you Rosie Rink for providing our secondary staff with pd on explicit tier two vocabulary and morphology instruction. By providing consistent instruction on these high frequency words, students devote more cognitive resources to engage with the content and acquire new vocabulary.
