Former epidemiologist, writer, gamer, knitter and obsessed with my dog. Lots of TTRPGs. I like to make people sad over fictional characters for fun. 41, lesbian/kinky, disastrous, she/her.
I'm so curious if you like it/what you end up doing with it. Toast with butter? Cheese? A sandwich? Turmeric and fennel are so good.

Is it sweet, savory or walking the line between the two?

I have recently taken up succulents because of my desire to feel some control over something. I was repotting and cut myself without noticing until I was done. That's when I looked it up and realized I was overdue for a Tetanus shot so then I had control by going to get one. :P

It's definitely better than it was 30 years ago when my mom would try to make me drink it when I was sick and I was like "No thanks, I'd rather die." But that's not saying much because it was REAL bad. 😆

Charcuterie is the one thing I can reliably do even when I'm having a really rough day on my meds. Bite sized meat and cheese? Please yes.

When we were house hunting "Absolutely no fucking carpet" was a hard line for me.

"Oh you can just remove the carpet after purch--"

No. I did not want a house that had ever even experienced the concept of carpet.

I do think that having pets around is a net benefit, but it made me understand better why we didn't really have pets when I was a kid. My mom had just decided that for her, the additional stress was not outweighed by the benefits, and I now get that math, even if it doesn't add up that way for me.

I loved my cats, but after one of them developed a very rare form of incontinence ... I have to admit that the piss issue is one of the reasons I have not gotten another cat in the year since we lost the last of our three. Every time I smell cat urine I get this instant jolt of anxiety.
December 30, 2025 at 4:28 PM
The "Look, an exciting new place to piss!" aspect of cat ownership is my least favorite part by far. The existence of carpet in my vicinity makes me a little anxious as a result. Current house has absolutely no carpet whatsoever, for that reason.

Cat piss is the worst.

I haven't the foggiest goddamn idea who I am (I'm reading Piranesi).

It kinda kills me that I think my employer is truly one of the best options in terms of ethics and mission.

And I still can't get them to take a hard line on AI.

Yeah, one of the things I was thinking is that conservatives say "fuck no" all the time, and somehow rather than look at content to be like "Y'all are assholes and we're dragging you with us kicking and screaming", we've become the most wishy washy "all sides are equally valid" people ...
December 30, 2025 at 1:13 AM
I keep getting hit with "We'll be just behind, it's here to stay and the best thing we can do is find the good in it."

God it's so depressing we can't ever hold firm on fucking anything. Which is how we got fascism.

I've had to entertain more nuance than I'd like because of discussions at work and just ... I don't understand why we've reached this point where it's not okay to say "Absolutely fucking not" about ANYTHING.
December 30, 2025 at 1:06 AM
I'll be ready to really give the nuance some time when it stops KILLING PEOPLE.

Awesome! Is your email on the shop site?

I think of y'all all the time when I'm perusing the bead, jewelry making and vintage jewelry shows.
December 28, 2025 at 5:26 PM
I am going to bug y'all at some point about whether anyone does commission wire wrapping. I have gotten my hands on some really pretty small jewelry grade geodes.
December 28, 2025 at 5:25 PM
I use WhatNot. When I log in tonight I'll let you know who specifically I like that does jewelry.

I am a danger in antique books, plants, and pretty rocks.
December 28, 2025 at 5:24 PM
I've gotten a little hooked on vintage jewelry shows on auction apps. I don't even buy things, I just stare at the pretties.

My jewelry money belongs to Peculiarity Shop. 😆

And we know that masks protect others from our germs better than they protect us from theirs.

So it also just feels so, so inconsiderate to me for anyone to see me in a mask and not mask up themselves.

With medical providers, it goes beyond that into malpractice.
December 26, 2025 at 4:22 PM
Yeah, I'm not her biggest fan. Especially not as I got older and realized just how cruel it was because I can't imagine saying anything like that to a teenager. Or to anyone else, for that matter.

(fuck you lady, I was trying to survive a goddamn cult as a Queer kid, having a self-identity other people could see was too dangerous.)
