Tom Scholar is the chair of Nomura International plc and was previously the Permanent Secretary to the Treasury (2016-22). He was appointed Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath in the 2023 New Year Honours.

Emma Pooley is an engineer, author and former professional athlete. She took up cycling whilst studying at Trinity Hall and went on to race professionally for 8 years, winning several titles and a silver medal at the Beijing Olympics. 🚴‍♀️

This Monday, over 50 students joined us for the final 'You'll Fit In' residential of 2025, where they experienced life at Trinity Hall first-hand — living, studying, socialising, and dining in College.

The 'You'll Fit In' initiative offers potential applicants from underrepresented backgrounds at Cambridge a free programme of webinars, talks and residentials to help support and guide them through the University admissions process.

Spending between four and six weeks at @ucsandiego.bsky.social, the visiting scholar will be able to conduct in-person research with the University's collection, deepening their knowledge and understanding of modern and contemporary Chinese language materials in the humanities and social sciences.
