got away from that landlord but ended up homeless again. Wisp went to live with someone in another state where she'd be safe and have a consistent roof over her head, so most of the time it's just been me by myself

Every person you call an NPC or "unensouled" or whatever has their own internal thoughts and feelings, their own ups and downs, triumphs and failures. You can not like them all you want or whatever, at least afford people the decency of seeing them as people.

I think calling people philosophical zombies or "unensouled" or whatever might be up there with calling ai stuff made up (based off real) slurs to do pretend racism. Like these are both very much objectionable to me, on about the same level.
