A humid day in the Perth hills. I always hesitate to trim canopy trees as sun protection is so crucial here, but my baby mango has stalled in growth and is in need of gibberellic stimulus #foodforest #permaculture #agroforestry

🌱 My biggest challenge with apples is the birds. As long as I keep my trees healthy they don't seem to get stung too much by critters. Parrots on the other hand LOVE them. I hate netting so am trying some Christmas baubles as a scare tactic this year 🤞

🌱 Diversity is a major focus of my gardening. I try to include as many different plant families in each of my tree guilds as possible. My goal is 16 - this Avocado bed is currently at 15 and does not require fertilizer (only foliar feed). #soilfoodweb in action.

I love the idea of encouraging weeds to establish a microbially diverse rhizosphere so I let winter weeds run rampant this year. It's a challenge getting the desired plants up and over the weeds (lots of chop & drop around individual plants) but I think this little beet has benefitted. 🌱

Dessert from the garden - mulberries, strawberries & raspberries. Delish!
