I must admit when I thought there was a ghost running around it did get a lot more exciting, although I loved the themes of the passage of time and erosion of knowledge without any supernatural stuff going on

Ah but the 1997 version is itself a remake of the 1990 one where you have to send orders by text message and the couriers would sometimes die en route so the generals don't get the orders 😂

It's totally sustainable unfortunately, humans have an innate desire to express themselves and it costs the rich and powerful nothing to let them do that
