That looks terrific! Could you tell me where the pattern is from?

I am thankful for your televised games and that you are active here on BlueSky! Happy Thanksgiving!

Wow, that's gorgeous!

I have been doing the online equivalent of sticking my fingers in my ears and saying "la la la I can't hear you!" 🤣

Finally started a new project - I caught the Cold From Hell and had no brain power until now. #crossstitch #WIPWednesday

Since I am no longer located where Royal Crest is available, this is good to know. I think.

They really need to glow in the dark.

As for what I'm making for Thanksgiving: reservations.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I've written this with a lot of hyperbole and not worrying too much every last detail. I'm sure there's more I'll think of later, and I'm sure that someone on Bluesky is going to point out exactly where something isn't quite correct. Please save that energy for helping your host with dinner. 16/17

- Expect to be doing a lot of dishes at the end of the night. Doing them mid-party means someone is going to miss out. And most likely it'll be you. 15/17

- Then tell people how you're going to manage the leftover situation. Otherwise Earl may try to slide the entire plate of leftover turkey into his computer case. 14/17
November 20, 2025 at 10:11 PM
- Speaking of leftovers, this can be very tricky. Some people expect to take home all of what's leftover of anything they brought. Some want a little bit of everything. Some want ALL the leftovers. Figure out how you're going to manage this ahead of time. 13/17
November 20, 2025 at 10:11 PM
- If you do have someone who sincerely wants to take on some of the tasks, treasure them. Give them no more than two jobs that do not need to be done at the same time. Give them first dibs at the leftovers. 12/17

- This is because the closer you get to dinner, the less you are a cook and more you are an expediter/kitchen manager. Your priority changes from making the food to getting it to where people can eat it. 11/17

(Note: I don't actually have relatives named Marge and Earl, but I needed some names to shorten the posts. Feel free to substitute the names of your own guests if you don't have a Marge and Earl. Otherwise they might get confused.) 10/17

- Make sure you ask in front of everyone, and make sure everyone is asked. When they get in the kitchen, tell them EXACTLY what you expect them to do. "Earl, can you please pile the plates over on that counter? Marge, I'm slicing the pie, can you please put it on the table/buffet?" 9/17
November 20, 2025 at 10:11 PM
- Do not expect that anyone will offer to help clear the table or anything else. Ask for help. Be specific. "Earl, can you please bring all the plates into the kitchen? And Marge, can you please help me dish up the pie?" 8/17
November 20, 2025 at 10:11 PM
- If you can't serve buffet style, make sure that ALL the serving dishes you plan on using fit on the table along with the wine glasses, silverware, dinner plates, etc. - and will leave room for whatever people bring. Do a test fitting. 7/17
November 20, 2025 at 10:11 PM
- If you can, serve buffet-style. That reduces the chances that someone will ask someone why they didn't take any of Grandma's lime jello/cottage cheese/pineapple monstrosity she calls a salad. 6/17
November 20, 2025 at 10:11 PM
- Have some snacky stuff out for those people who still thought they'd walk in the door and sit down to dinner. Also some drinks. Have them where people can serve themselves. 5/17
November 20, 2025 at 10:11 PM
- Be very clear what time you're expecting people and what time dinner will be served. Some people (family members) think dinner is served immediately and that's not how it happens. 4/17
