I do believe there's value in documenting & then reviewing ourselves, our lives. I just don't think that we should have normalized having services collecting & even flaunting their capacity for surveillance. Look at how bad it's gotten as we've given so much away already because it's so easy.

& even for those who think themselves above all that, there's something undeniably alluring about seeing the sum of our behaviors & actions in charts & comparisons. The data can be useful in most cases. By proxy charts about music surely must be as well, no? But do we need someone else to do it?

They took it a step further & crafted stories about us based on all the information they documented on our behavior & they made the stories shareable. Taboo as it is to talk about yourself, it's less so when we share a story about ourselves that was made by another where we are unique & interesting.
