My sense is that the Democratic base exhausted after 8+ years of non-stop "I NEED YOUR HELP NOW" texts/emails, so her explanation and repudiation of that approach was refreshing
People want something to vote for, not just an existential threat to endlessly stave off, and she addressed that well

yet i’m also sickened by the idea of my vote affirming biden’s approach to palestine or immigration or policing.
yes, i want to avoid what is quite clearly the far worse option, but i’m deeply disturbed that the alternative is to still support many innocent people losing their lives

i know that trans individuals and people of color and will suffer if trump is re-elected. that global warming will accelerate. that reproductive rights will further vanish. that a vote for anyone but biden is a vote for autocracy

when the democratic president adopts policies at home (increased deportations) and abroad (enabling israel’s genocide in gaza) that are cruel and inhumane, he makes it increasingly difficult to argue that voting for him is the ethical option

it frustrates and frightens me that the instinct of so many is to assume that young voters have “forgotten” how bad things were, instead of actually looking inward and acknowledging that the democratic party has institutionally moved away from policies supported by younger voters
