I'm from a farm in Saskatchewan and in Saskatchewan we would call that a grain bin with a hopper bottom. They're used to hold grain (like wheat, barley or canola). They're heavy when full but light when empty, so strong winds can tip them over.

That's really cool! It's like the classic predator-prey dynamical system, but with more state variables and some of the new state variables being tool (rock) size and shellfish size.

For simple calculations and unit conversions, I just use Kagi or Google in my web browser. (You can just type "= 2592 / 44.4" or "23 oz in grams" into the search box, for example.) For more involved calculations, I open a terminal and fire up Python, i.e. $ python
