If you like Chopin's nocture you may be interested in a composer I'm ashamed I just found out about. When I heard a piece of his music without knowing the composer I thought that's a Chopin nocturne I've never heard. It turns out it was by John Field who actually invented the nocturne.

The US can invade Canada, but they can never conquer Canada.

Three things I was taught in the Canadian military.
1) Never call a rifle a gun.
2) Never walk with your hands in your pocket.
And most importantly
3) Never wear head gear in a mess.

My hometown brewery is preparing Canadians for the Trump second term by releasing the Presidential Pack of Moosehead beer. A beer for every day of Trump’s second term. That is unless the cheeseburgers or KFC ‘impeach’ him.

Vance was worried that Trump was getting too worked up about everything and encouraged him to relax and have some down time. Vance says his kids like doing puzzles so may he might like it as well.
An hour later Trump calls all agitated and says he can’t get any of the pieces to fit.

I assume the US inflation rate will drop as Trump will just tell the US Bureau of Labor Standards to put the inflation rate at what ever he tells them to. Either do that or lose your job.

Just finished my monthly shop at large grocery store for food I can’t get locally. There was a lot of discussion with other shoppers on what was from the USA and those products were being avoided. I’ve changed several brands I usually buy because they are US.

In communist Poland the government stopped publishing data on highway accidents because it was afraid the people might start thinking communism wasn’t working. I assume the same will happen in the US on infectious diseases, unemployment, inflation and perhaps the stock market.

One can’t get much more Canadian than this. Anne Murray singing the new words to The Maple Leaf Forever at the last Leafs’ [sic] game at Maple Leafs Garden. The new words were written by an immigrant to Canada who is a
Marhematician and speaks 5 languages.

Trump’s cancelling of the penny is the only policy of Trump I agree with. Canada did it over a decade ago.

It also allows one to say that Trump makes no sense and have MAGA cult members agree with that statement.

One often hears from conservatives that CEOs need to act as they do as they have a fiduciary duty to their shareholders to keep the company profitable and share prices high. Then when Musk tanks Tesla with his crazy actions in Washington will he be held liable?

I read Obama’s book “A Promised Land” a few years ago and found it fascinating. I was given a dozen audiobook coupons for Christmas and I got the audio version. I find it therapeutic listening to his voice and reminds me the US once had a great president, and reason willing, will have one again.

I just finished reading Precipice by Robert Harris. (www.goodreads.com/book/show/19...). All of his books are excellent historical fiction and this was no exception. It is set in the tumultuous time at beginning of WWI, and involves the last Liberal PM of the UK and Venetia Stanley.

If you haven't read Homer's Odyssey you have no excuse not to now. Emily Wilson's translation (2018) is a very readable version of this classic. No more arguments between the Fitzgerald or Fagles translation, Wilson's is the way to go now. Also the Audible version is read by Claire Danes.

I'd like to start recommending books and the first one is by Andy Weir, the author of The Martian. His latest book is Project, and it is best read without any description of what the book is about. If you liked The Martian (movie great, book greater) you will love Wier's latest. (Goodreads-97%)
