#VC10birthday Today is the anniversary of the first flight of VC10 C1(K) XV101. It flew for the first time on 11 January 1967, from Weybridge to Wisley. It operated the last flight on the Brize-Washington route in 1995 and was retired in 2011. www.vc10.net/Airframes/cn...

2/2 #VC10birthday Today is also the anniversary of ZA143's first flight in 1982. Previously G-ARVK, this Standard #VC10 lost a passenger door during a CofA renewal flight, some years before its conversion to a K2 tanker. Scrapped in 2001 at St. Athan. www.vc10.net/Airframes/cn...

1/2 #VC10birthday Today is the anniversary of G-ASGL's first flight in 1967. This Super VC10 flew for BOAC/BA, became famous for running down four engines in flight, carried out the last BA flight and was converted to a K4 tanker as ZD240. www.vc10.net/Airframes/cn...

#VC10birthday Today is the anniversary of G-ARVB's first flight in 1962. The second production example for BOAC, this #VC10 carried out the tropical trials for the type in Torrejon, Spain and Johannesburg, South Africa. It was scrapped in 1976. www.vc10.net/Airframes/cn...

#VC10birthday Today is the anniversary of G-ARVI's first flight in 1963. This BOAC Standard #VC10 later flew for Gulf Air as A4O-VI and was converted to a K2 tanker as ZA142. It flew the last operational flight as well as the final flight of this subtype. www.vc10.net/Airframes/cn...

One day late: #VC10birthday. Yesterday was the anniversary of ZA235's first flight as a tanker in 1995. Over seven years it flew an additional 2669 flying hours, dispensing fuel to other airframes. It was withdrawn from service in 2002. www.vc10.net/Airframes/cn...

#VC10birthday no.2: Today is also the anniversary of ZA144's first flight as a K2 tanker. It had the highest serial, but was not the last to be delivered. Ex-G-ARVC, it spent 16 years with 101 Squadron delivering fuel, before retirement in 2000. www.vc10.net/Airframes/cn...

#VC10birthday no.1: Today is the anniversary of XR810's first flight in 1966. Named 'David Lord VC' in a ceremony at RAF Brize Norton it later took part in the Daily Mail Trans Atlantic Air Race. The team set a winning time but was disqualified. www.vc10.net/Airframes/cn...

#VC10birthday Today is the anniversary of XR806's first flight in 1965. As the first of the RAF's C1 models, it was used for flight testing. Having flown over 35000 hours it tipped on its tail during a refuelling accident in 1997 and was later scrapped. www.vc10.net/Airframes/cn...

#VC10birthday Today is the anniversary of XV106's first flight in 1967. This RAF C Mk.1 was named 'Thomas Mottershead VC' and continued to fly with 10 Sqn and 101 Sqn until November 2012. The nose section is preserved with the Avro Heritage Museum. www.vc10.net/Airframes/cn...
