The people would go out of business, too. Dependency is no trifling matter.

He served the same masters that Trump does now. No one gets into that office without being in Israel’s pocket.

Fuck yeah! I am so excited for and jealous of you!

This conversation has not run its course, you just can’t follow it. My argument is based on a very different idea than that. My argument is that tipping is harmful to the people it intends to help, and if we want to help them, we must all stop doing it.

Oh no! Not the the dismissive eyeroll! You’re right! Tipping is such an effective way to help people! There’s no reason to change anything or do anything different. It’s better for me to shoulder even more of the burden of wealth inequality than to leave it for its willful architects!

Refusing to tip is not a punishment for the worker. It is an insistence that the responsibility for their compensation does not lie with me to begin with. The waiter’s bills are to be paid, but the customer is not the one who owes them that. You who condemn the non-tippers are the oppressor’s pawns.

The message it sends is “I’m not the one who is responsible for paying you enough to make rent. Get it from your employer instead.”

There isn’t anything that isn’t a political act.

My strong opinion about having strong opinions is that if you don’t have strong opinions about something, then you haven’t given it sufficient thought.

The $5 you leave as gratuity IS a vote for the system you are participating in. Participation is always a vote for the thing you are participating in.
December 31, 2025 at 4:10 AM
Name a thing. I have strong opinions about it.

I can’t afford doordash or haircuts. I cut my own hair and I ride my bike if I need to pick up food.

BTW, even tho I disagree with @jessethorn.bsky.social about tipping, he is still a true hero to me. Every day I wish I could give more than $10/mo to Maximum Fun. He’s done more for humanity’s wellbeing than I could ever.

I got it from the German Nintendo Power. I hung it on my wall.

Every dollar left as gratuity, every vote cast for “one of the good ones”, every investment in the idea that there is a polite way out of the mess we’re in, entrenches us deeper in complacency. We are being snuffed out. We must act drastically and swiftly. Tipping isn’t good enough.
December 30, 2025 at 11:09 PM
“The way things ‘should’ work is irrelevant because that’s not how they ‘do’ work” is a convenient way of invalidating counterarguments. I do tip generously (and at great cost to myself) when I manage to scrounge up enough to take myself out. The real jerks are getting away with scamming me.

My solution won’t hurt them. The exploitation being committed against them is what will hurt them. Everyone here is misguided about where the abuse is coming from.
December 30, 2025 at 3:08 AM
And boycotting them will absolutely result in them paying fair wages. This problem has a solution, and tipping is not it.
December 30, 2025 at 2:50 AM
The tips aren’t what they need to survive. Getting paid fairly by their employers is what they need to survive.
December 30, 2025 at 2:48 AM
I think I will find something very different than this.
December 30, 2025 at 2:46 AM
Who’s talking about burning anything down? Be reasonable. It’s about applying financial pressure to the people who are taking advantage of those less powerful than them.
December 30, 2025 at 2:37 AM
Figure out who the bad guy is. It’s up v down. Not left v right.

Crush crush is adorable. I’ve been playing it consistently for longer than I’ve ever played any other game. I don’t know what kind of magic they found, but I can’t help myself. I open it on my phone every day.
