Yea, but Monterey has some of the most beautiful vistas in the world. Moving inland would have been less expensive, but my premise was that you will have a smaller house due to the trade offs of the benefits of California

As an Angeleno (LA), some things to keep in mind is that wages are also much higher in California. And while your home may be smaller, you pay for the year-round great weather, culture, and proximity to the world’s most beautiful areas.
