confusing info in the announcement- they seem to be saying that police officer 'interactions' were replaced w correctional & probation officer interactions, incl. longer sentencing for people who meet the criteria for this program (criteria which doesn't necessarily include a history of violence)?

importantly, it is not a real dx, even per BC Coroners Service, Alberta Coroner, Canadian Psych Association, the ICD-10, DSM-5, WHO, AMA, APA, US Natl Association of Medical Examiners,US College of Emerg Physicians & others. Many orgs never have had a stance or policy on a non-existent condition

Agree or disagree, I hope people realize that this is just a piece of paper with Government logo on it; it's not legislation, it's not a peer-reviewed paper or clinical guideline; it's one random dudes thoughts and it's frankly insulting to assume that clinicians should accept it at all

i feel that. i worry too, not only about families, but also healthcare practitioners—i can foresee so much conflict about what constitutes best clinical practice. further cracks will be created in this already broken and violent system. and of course youth who use drugs will be most impacted.

the announcement was an incredibly incredibly disturbing misrepresentation of almost everything that was discussed. everyone deserves so much better. thanks for this thread
