Finished up a new trailer for Ephemeral Frame just in time to submit for the Godot 2025 Showreel #godot #gamedev

Captures a lot more than the original teaser I feel!

Given the whole "going into different mediums" thing I really want to lean into worlds with drastically different styles.

Old games, black & white movies, oil paintings (like how Oblivion does it), etc. Just fun playing around with it

Experimenting with an old-school castle kind of vibe, complete with runescape-esque music #godot #gamedev

Finally updated the Steam page to make use of the latest features from Valve.

I spent so long on those old gifs and they still looked super crusty but now you can just upload mp4s which is really nice

(I maybe should've done this before posting the trailer earlier but oh well lol) #gamedev

I always feel a little weird considering late 2020/early 2021 a highlight but I think it's for a lot of the same reasons you mentioned. I was still in university but with some pretty light semesters so I got to spend a lot of time on gamedev and music. Good times

This is the kind of thing I'll probably notice more than anyone lol, but I think it's a pretty significant improvement still.

Also lets me speed things up slightly as I don't have to spend as much time crossfading

Finally made the transitions pixel perfect!
This was an issue from day one...

I'm now effectively rendering the frame's quad a second time on top which lets me bypass all lighting + post processing for that specific quad. Works exactly as I wanted it to!

It was only a matter of time before I added VHS tapes #godot #gamedev

I actually did pick up one of the cheaper Ibanez 7-strings! I've just divided my time between too many projects at the moment to git gud lol

Thanks! Hoping to play for real some day but for now Shreddage + Archetype Petrucci is enough for my needs haha

Felt inspired to write something cartoonishly evil sounding this morning. Will probably sneak this into the game somewhere...

Super barebones shader but it's easy to make designs for which is nice.

Working on some spookier environments now that it's September which is almost October 🎃 #godot #gamedev

Working on a new trailer and my video editing software hasn't crashed once yet so I must be doing SOMETHING right.

The first was pretty thrown together but I've got a whole plan and everything now. Here's one of the first frames 🐈‍⬛

city scene with two cats walking along the sidewalk. "Explore the dreamscape" text is overlaid.

In a similar boat myself, so good luck!

Made a rudimentary moving platform with branching paths based off Path3D and PathFollow3D nodes.

Also a new kind of frame transition which is essentially just Portal (I'm trying not to make this sound as dry as possible lol) #godot #gamedev

Incredible coincidence with the file size of a song for the game lol (it's a metal track) 😈
A song called "Nightmare Remnant" with a file size of 6.66 MB

A pretty dry topic but since I'm adding a bunch more worlds to the game I thought it'd be handy to graph out how they're all connected.

Thankfully yEd seems to do the job and handles the layout automatically #gamedev
A directional graph showing how different game worlds link between eachother

The UI is still a trainwreck (ha) but I wrote a shader for assembling photo fragments. Pretty simple but adds some needed pizazz.

Everything about it is adjustable which is night and day compared to the manually stitched together images I used before lol #godot #gamedev

Working on weird new ways to transition between areas #godot #gamedev

The Blade Runner-esque world was a last minute addition to the jam version so it didn't have much going on, but I'm working on fleshing it out.

Getting in the mood with some new music first #gamedev #godot

Gathering references for a garden area.

Shot with the same digital camera featured in-game funnily enough (it's not that funny)
