私が遺伝研の三浦謹一郎先生から頂戴した研究テーマの仕事でたまに遺伝研にお世話になった時、同じ研究室で、のちに植物研究の大家になられた篠崎先生が新進気鋭の研究者として精力的に研究されていたことを思い出します。もう45年近く前の話。

今の中道がいまだに理解していないことは、「リーダー不在で彼らは統合を見せられない批判好きの人」という印象を持たれていること。要するに「どうせまた内紛を起こして分裂するのでしょう」という信用のなさ。そして、分裂を起こしては、いつもおっさん臭のするいつものメンバー。そしてみんな目線が高いこと。ここまで要素が揃うと、「（表立って）批判を好まず、うわっとした同調圧力と外見、適当な弱みと凄みのバランス、勇ましさ」をこよなく好む中堅若手世代が支持者に戻ることはないだろう。政党にもマーケティング能力が必要だと思います。

リベラル派の自民党支持者への言動は選挙期間中から一貫して厳しい。リベラル派は「ダメなものには理屈をつけて説明してやらないといけないのだ」という信念がある。個人的な見解だが、このやり方が今の日本ではもう許容されなくなったと感じる。もし、この説教話法を繰り返す限り、日本には二度とリベラル派は存在できなくなるだろう。もう日本人の多くは、少し前の日本人とは違うということを肝に銘じるべき。ただし昔の日本人と同じところもある。「あの人が言っているから私もそうする」という他責発想は同じだ。同時に、他者に耳を傾け、脳内で理屈を処理することを忌み嫌いダサいと片付けてしまうようになっている。
