One only needs to look at what happned in Turkey before and after Trump took office to see what they talk about. US is not even hiding it, their ambassador openly stated that Ankara was seeking legitemacy.

And BRICS is not a military alliance, the SCO which Turkey is a dialogue partner is a military organization. BRICS is an alternative to the Western led G7. It is an economic summit where countries can coordinate multilateral policies. It is not a defence organization.

After that incident, where editorials started appearing that Turkey should be kicked out of NATO for trying to start WW3, there was a shift. Because people realized that if push comes to something serious no "ally" would be on Turkey's side. So hence new opportunities were looked after.

Do you know what happened when Turkey shot down a Russian jet for violating its airspace 10 years ago? US, Germany and Netherlands pulled their Patriot batteries out of Turkey. We knew Turkey would never join the EU, but we believed that they would fight with us...

I don't get the logic here. Selling the latest F-16's mean the same thing? They would ve better then Turkey's current legacy F-16s. With better Weapons carriage payload and more advanced sensor fusion. If he is not a misunderstood ally then why sell 4.5gen jets?
