Over 1000 have died at track level on the TTC, time to do something about it. Platformdoors.info
The blue light emergency cutoff wouldn’t be needed, and this person would never have made it to track level if the ttc had built platform doors. www.thestar.com/news/gta/ttc...
TTC commuter’s quick thinking on a subway platform helped save a life. He wants others to know how he did it
Richard White said if he didn’t know about the TTC’s emergency power cut button or telephone, he might not have been able to save a stranger’s life.

In the TTC’s capital budget there are only two completely unfunded programs in the modernizing/expanding service bucket. 1) resignalling line four 2) platform doors

This could be @oliviachow. Imagine all the ribbon cuttings and media availabilities you can have if every one of the 70 subway stations were to get platform doors.

Yesterday we sent this post. Today there was a priority one on the subway. The city needs to accelerate its plans for platform doors (which are currently stalled)
December 18th is one the riskiest days of the year for priority ones on the TTC. It is also the day with the highest amount of trespassing incidents. We encourage all staff to be on high alert.

Avoidable delays on the TTC by year - why is trespassing progressively increasing so much since Covid (2025 numbers end in October, so we expect them to be similar to 2024)

What goes on here?

Remember - If You See Something, Say Something…please contact TTC leadership if you see anything on the TTC that they could be doing to make the system safer. Especially installing platform doors to make the system safer.

We will just drop this here. Modern systems have figure this out. Toronto still in the dark ages.

We’ve been saying it since day one. That this line wasn’t built with platform doors (one of the best forms of transit priority) will result in slow station speeds. Fencing and other solutions are needed to reduce vision zero impacts.

I bet this guys seen some crazy stuff. We owe it to city staff to fund solutions to the preventable safety issues that they have to deal with every day. Thanks Sandeep.

There’s gotta be a better way to make that happen…

It’s crazy we are spending almost 1m$ on art when there are major safety programs that remain unfunded. All section 45 funds should be redirected to funding design work for platform doors until the project is fully funded.

Just saw a really great reason to install platform doors at Sherbourne…the grade school class trip…lots of respect for teachers who are brave enough to coral a bunch of kids onto an unsafe subway platform…

Even busy bus stations can benefit from platform doors. Ensuring that pedestrians don’t end up in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Some unattended debris on track…ready to delay us all…

Here is a ranking by station of priority one delay incidents from 2014-2025...we're curious if anyone has some ideas on why Castle Frank (and Royal York) - which seem to be on the lower end by customer usage rank so high. Clearly adding platform doors to the top 20 stations would have a large impact

If you’re wondering what caused that avoidable track fire that delayed you on the TTC…wonder no further…

The Hogwarts Express at Universal Studios has platform doors. Even Wizards can benefit from safe train platforms.

One of the reasons the platform doors are expected to cost more than other systems is our platforms are apparently suffering from structural issues. The board should ask for a report on these issues to understand risks and costs of temporary or partial repairs versus a program to rebuild them
December 12, 2025 at 9:25 PM
Still nothing on platform doors. We hope the mayor is going to really focus in on this, and get it moving.
Y'all are giving us whiplash with all these announcements this week! This is going to make a massive difference to transit riders in Scarborough and we are thrilled!

It's also a testament to what can be accomplished without provincial meddling. Metrolinx, take note.

Scarborough busway to open earlier than expected, says Mayor Olivia Chow
Construction for the $93.8-million project to convert the defunct Scarborough Rapid Transit corridor into a busway began this year and wasn’t expected to finish until at least 2027.

Hmmm. So they knew there was a problem and decided a sign would be sufficient…
