Nobuyoshi Araki’s “Kinbaku”

What I learned today;

Shibari (縛り) means “to tie/bind” and refers to the artistry of fastening ropes on the human body in visually pleasing patterns.

Kinbaku (緊縛), means “tightly binding,” and focusses on emotional and psychological connection through rope.
A woman in a multicoloured patchwork dress is suspended by three lengths of rope from her chest, waist, and thigh. She is framed against a blue background in a nearly empty room. Her long, black hair hangs down like a waterfall, and her expression is stoic. A woman is suspended by two lengths of rope in a traditional Japanese Tatami room. Her head is upside down and she displays an expression of consternation.
