I spent the whole game, right up until he scored, asking what he was doing on. His touch was awful. He was getting dispossessed all the time. He was running into blind alleys. His link up and passing was bad. Everything was breaking down with him. Then he scored. And looked good. So...

It's quite stark to see it laid out like that. But a lot of clubs are changing their models, at long last, so 10 years doesn't really help as a comparison. 5 might be better. And, as others have said, we rely on selling youth players but they head off for pennies at 16-17. Rules need to change.
